A relentless, insanely heavy fuzz.
Sludgehammer is a fuzz capable of demolishing buildings. It delivers a massive wall of sound, extended sustain, a rich variety of tones, and an additional booster that not only boosts the signal but also adds even more weight, thick lows, and compression.
Knobs:
Input - Controls the input signal strength, adjusting the intensity of the fuzz.
Output - Regulates the output signal level.
Boost - Adjusts the power of the additional gain stage, activated by the Boost footswitch.
Tone - Adjusts the ballance of low and high frequencies.
Mids - Controls the level of mid frequencies.
Switches:
Clipping - Switches between additional clipping modes: “I” uses a single LED, adding subtle compression; “II” combines an LED with silicon diodes, compressing the signal more heavily for a sizzly, sharp fuzz sound; “O” bypasses this stage entirely, allowing for a full, dynamic signal with maximum headroom.
Cut FQ - Changes the mid-frequency range affected by the Mids knob.
Bypass - Footswitch that activates the fuzz.
Boost - Footswitch that engages the additional gain stage, adjusted by the Boost knob.
Pickup sim - An internal switch accessible by removing the back cover, which activates an input buffer and guitar pickup simulator, resolving the typical low-input impedance issue with this type of fuzz (commonly referred to as “tone sucking”).
